As mentioned on NBC Nightly News, each SmartCheck scan emits roughly 0,005 milirems and people may reach 25 milirems which is the maximum recommended safe amount of radiation set by International Healt Organizations only when they are scanned 5000 times.

 

    * 1 scan = About 2 minutes of plane flight at altitude

 

    * 1 scan = Less than 15 minutes of natural background radiation

 

    * 1 scan = Less than 1/1000th of a medical chest X-ray
